RD Thoughts - March 10, 2007
First off, a happy 36th birthday to one of my friends from the late 1980s, Brandi Jacobson.
I am very impressed and amazed with the folks in Vermont seeking to begin Impeachment proceedings against President Bush. This has been going on now for a few years, and rightfully so, Bush should be recalled. This "republican" has misled the nation, misled Congress, and used his own political powers for his own gain, which includes, but not limited to, going into conflict with Iraq without good cause.
Now I am awaiting for the other 49 states to stand up and make this happen. New Mexico will be next, and Washington state is not that far behind.
Bush, Vice President Cheney, and now-former defense secretary Rumsfeld are the three reasons why this country is in the worst shape its been since the Nixon Administration. And again, for the third year in a row, we may be seeing record-high gas prices because of continued high crude oil prices, which has gone up nearly $10 over the past two months.
I know I may get bashed for posting this, but who cares... it is American for the people of this great nation to stand up and say what is right and what is wrong. Let's not forget that Bush went AWOL during his time in the service. And he stole the 2000 election from its rightful winner, Al Gore.

A true American and a great voice in the music world has been silenced forever. Brad Delp, the voice of Boston, who bursted onto the music scene in 1976 with some of the best music you will ever hear in any decade, has passed away, unknown causes. He was 55 years old. Brad was upon his death one of the THREE lead singers of Boston (the others were Fran Cosmo and Kimberly Dahme). Their debut album sold 17 million copies, the best debut record in Billboard Music history. With Delp gone and Cosmo no longer in Boston, Dahme appears to be the lone lead vocalist for the time being, and the band's future is uncertain.
Boston came around when I was in the middle of my tenure in Europe, so that's how I heard of them back then. When I came back to Texas in '78, they were heard on XEROK (then known as X-Rock 80), KPAS, and later on KLAQ. Almost every day there was at least one song from Boston heard on any of those aforementioned stations. They, along with Foreigner, Journey, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, Dio and to some extend Led Zeppelin dominated the arena rock scene throughout the second-half of the 1970s.
In Vegas, stations like KOMP, KKLZ and 97.1 The Point played a Boston tune at least once every week. The same holds true here in L.A. on KLOS.

Hope everybody is ready for baseball like I am. I am hoping for good things from the Dodgers, Angels and the Padres this year. L.A. and San Diego made it to post-season in '06, and both were eliminated in the first round. The Cardinals were, as the great Jack Buck once said, a World Series winner last fall, and expect the redbirds to be very competitive again this year.
Enjoy the weekend, friends. I return to work this Monday, so my time will be limited to just nights and weekends.

Carl from Lydia's blog here...
Delp's voice was truly distinctive and one I've tried to imitate. How he carried that range WHILE PLAYING GUITAR, is beyond me. I can still hear him in "More Than A Feeling" on the segue to the bridge "I see my Marianne walking away-yyyyyyyy" and for the life of me I can't figure out where his voice kicks out...
