Here we go again = $3 a gallon prices

Just when you thought it would go away...it's back.

The infamous $3 a gallon gas prices has returned to Southern California, and there is obviously no end in sight to the increase in gas prices, which consists of the following:

Right now the average price for regular 87 fuel in L.A. is 3.04 per gallon. That is a 38-cent increase from what it was a month ago, and an increase of 14 cents from last week. There was a 3-cent increase over the past 24 hours, and there is more to come of course.

Christmas day, fuel at a station near my home was $2.23 a gallon. It has increased 85 cents since that time.

And to top all of that off, crude oil futures are at $72 a barrell, which is an all-time record high. Four years ago, futures were as low as $20 a barrell.

When you add all of that up, and the reasons for these record-high levels (high demand, unrest in Iran and Iraq, etc); it all results into one common denominator:

GEORGE W BUSH

That's right, I said it. Ever since this idiot took office in 2001, things have gone south in a hurry in this country. 9/11/01...the illegal war in Iraq...threats for a war in Iran...and continuous illegal activities within the Bush administration.

If this guy doesn't get impeached soon, then this country is heading for serious trouble which I doubt any future president will be able to handle.

Supplemental on last blog

Stacy Steel, the former NCHS director, pleaded not guilty to the charge of obtaining a prescription drug by fraud and deceit. The maximum penalty for this is three years in the slam and a fine of $10,000. However, since she has had a clean record up to this point, it is doubtful that she will get the max; if at anything perhaps probation, a fine, and/or community service, if the jury finds her guilty for what she is accused of.

More on this story later. Her prelim hearing will be on Thursday, May 25th in Vista.

Another one of my disappointments has been revealed

Friends, I've been around for many, many years. I've come across some good people during my 39 years and I have been around some not-so-pleasant people. And this is dating back to my days in Texas too.

Well, I just read a story about a former humane society director in Oceanside who was arrested for obtaining controlled substances under false pretenses. Now, this is not just a person who has been in the public spotlight in the San Diego area for some three years. This person is a former high school classmate who I dated on many occassions in the 1980s.

Stacy Steel is very much like you and me: human. What she did was wrong, yes; and unfortunately, what Stac did will truly affect her career wherever she goes. Think about it: you put a $95,000-plus a year job and your career at risk for obtaining 10 bottles of opiate hydrocodone for your own use. And worst of all, directing your fellow workers to obtain such drugs. Absolutely an incorrect decision on her part if that was indeed the case.

It is not worth it! If I had a job like that and earn that much money a year, you better believe that I will conduct myself correctly per federal, state and local regulations.

I remember some 20 years ago when Stac once said she wanted to be a veterinarian. And she went to college afterwards to study it; one year at UNR and the last three at UNLV. There is one thing that I never told anyone, that it was OK to do something if nobody didn't see you do it.

I don't know if Stac will face any jail time for what she did; in all probability probation and a hefty fine, but you know something: she better think very long and hard at where she was in 2003; and what she did, because it is very doubtful that she will work in a humane society again.

However, there is one word that does not go away: redemption. If you look at how the late Jack Barry overcame not working on national television for 10 years due to his involvement in the quiz show scandals and return to greater heights than he was before in the 1970s, that is called redemption. The same holds true with Marv Albert.

So I will close with this: Stacy, it is not too late to recapture what you lost; but let me tell you one thing...if you ever get that chance to run a shelter again, do it the right way. I will pray that everything will turn out OK and perhaps something positive will come out of this.

Back on Blogger

Well, friends; it has been almost a year since I've posted here, having switched over to MySpace.com; which I thought was really good and cool, however, there has been an infestation of wackos, losers, and if you have been reading the news, sex offenders who have duped a few under-legal aged girls to play hanky panky with them. How sick is that??? Anyway, I am back here, where REAL people hang out (among them, Lydia Cornell, a big hello to you). As Lydia has mentioned in her blog, this country is not in good shape right now...ya think, when you have an illegal war going on, a corrupt President who's twice as bad as Nixon was in his day, and record high gasoline prices which in L.A. is nearing $3 a gallon once again. I came across a gentleman at a McDonald's in Los Angeles a few days ago, and he was wearing a T-shirt. On one side, it said "Damn, I miss Bill Clinton", and on the other side it said "When Bill Clinton was our President, gasoline prices were 89 cents a gallon". That is true; prices were less than a dollar a gallon in the 1990s, and sadly, those days may never be seen again. What this country needs to do is for the people to stand up to this idiot running this country and tell him to get those troops the hell out of Iraq and put an end to these unbelievable high crude oil prices. You see a coincidence here? Bush was an oilman before he went into politics, and as you can imagine, all of these oilmen in Texas are enjoying life now, with crude oil over $65 a barrell right now. Oh let's also mention illegal wiretapping, and that idiotic law regarding illegal immigrants. As I close this blog, ask yourself what Ronald Reagan echoed 26 years ago: are you better off than you were in 2000?
